Vincent Chinemelu Atueyi Biography
Born on June 28, 1983, in Yola, Nigeria,
Vincent Chinemelu Atueyi is the progeny of
Surveyor Innocent Dike Atueyi and Mrs.
Florence Ifeoma Atueyi, a family of
distinguished professionals. His father, a
skilled surveyor engineer, and his mother, a
devoted educator, instilled in hima
profound appreciation for music from an
early age.
Early Life and Education
Hailing from Oraeri in Aguata Local
Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria,
Vincent’s musical inclinations were
nurtured through his parents’️ love of
music. His father’s Latin chants and
mother’s mezzo-soprano African melodies
resonated deeply, inspiring him to become
a vocalist at a tender age. He frequently
took solos in his classroom,
demonstrating exceptional talent.
Vincent’s family relocated from Kano to
Awka, Anambra State, where he attended
Handmaid’s Infant Jesus Nursery and
Primary School (1987-1994), and
subsequently, St. Dominic Savio Seminary,
Akpu, and St. John Bosco Seminary,
Isuaniocha (1994-2000) for his junior and
senior secondary education.
Spiritual Formation and Academic Pursuits
Upon completing his secondary education
with outstanding grades, Vincent
embarked on apostolic work and spiritual
year formation (2000 -2002). He then
pursued philosophical studies at Pope
John Paul Il Major Seminary, Okpuno,
Awka (2002 -2006), graduating with
distinction. Following a brief interlude, he
commenced theological studies at lwene
Tansi Major Seminary (2007-2011),
earning his degree with Summa cum
Lauda Probatus(1st class honors).
Ordination and Priestly Ministry
Ordained as a Roman Catholic priest on
August 20, 2011, Vincent served as a vicar
at St. Theresa’s Parish, Agulu, before he
was made the Music Director at St.
Dominic Savio Seminary, Akpu. His
exceptional talent and dedication led to a
request to further his musical education,
which was graciously granted by his
bishop.

Musical Pursuits
Vincent enrolled for a degree in music in
the University of Uyo, Akwa-lbom State,
Nigeria (2016 -2021), after which he came
out with First class honours. His final
defense was on Composition which he
wanted to further on. He subsequently
pursued a master’s degree in 20th and
21st Century Compositional Techniques at
Maynooth University, Ireland, which he
completed it with excellence.
Currently, Vincent is on his way to the
completion of another master’s degree in
Sacred Music Composition in St. Patrick’s
Pontifical College, Ireland.
Notable Achievements
Vincent’s composition, “A Life Lived With
Grace, was selected as the winning song
for the lighting of beacons during Queen
Elizabeth II’s Platinum (70th) Jubilee
celebrations in England. He was invited to
that event and was awarded for his
compositional excellence. That song
became a worldclass piece and was
performed by over a thousand choirs
around the globe.
Musical Legacy
With over 200 compositions to his credit,
Vincent’s repertoire includes:
- 30 piano works
- Arranged and composed pieces for
orchestra, violin, cello, flute, trumpet,
saxophone, and bassoon.
-Over a hundred choral works of different
genres.
- Multi-talented instrumentalist, and plays
the piano, organ, flute, cello, trumpet, alto
sax, and guitar.
