Amaechi Prince (born 19 February 2001), professionally known as MrMagg, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer. He is best known for his unique sound that blends Afrobeat, contemporary R&B, and Nigerian street vibes. His debut extended play (EP), Emergence, introduced songs such as Gratitude, Maka Gini, Attitude, Long Way, and Prodigy.
Early life and education
Amaechi Prince was born in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria, into a Christian and polygamous family. He grew up alongside his siblings Nkechi Amaechi, Chinenye Amaechi, Chidozie Amaechi, and Chisom Amaechi.
He attended Ugwu Nkpa Community Primary School before continuing his secondary education at Uzumeco and St. Teresa Comprehensive Secondary School. Later, he pursued higher education at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, where he further developed his interest in music while balancing academics.
Career
MrMagg’s passion for music began at an early age, fueled by his determination to overcome challenges and limited support from his family, who prioritized education over entertainment. To motivate himself, he coined the phrase “VuliNdlela”, a Zulu expression meaning “make way”. This mantra became the foundation of his artistic journey, symbolizing resilience and self-belief.
In 2023, he released his first EP, Emergence, which featured tracks such as Gratitude, Maka Gini, Attitude, Long Way, and Prodigy. The project highlighted his versatility and lyrical depth, earning him recognition within the Nigerian music scene.
So far, MrMagg has made one official feature but continues to collaborate and grow his artistry.
