Richard Agbor Otang, popularly known by his stage name Dhon Richie, is a Nigerian gospel music minister whose life and career reflect decades of dedication to Christian worship and music ministry. Born on 13th September 1977, Dhon Richie hails from Ekpokpa, Ofutop Clan, Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. He is a devoted Christian and a passionate servant of God whose music continues to inspire believers across Nigeria and beyond.
Early Life and Educational Background
Dhon Richie began his educational journey at Presbyterian Primary School, Ikot Ana, in Biase Local Government Area, Cross River State. He proceeded to Government Secondary School, Akampa (GOSSA) for his secondary education. Driven by a desire for academic excellence, he later gained admission into the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he studied Management Science and graduated successfully.
Music Ministry and Gospel Journey
Dhon Richie’s music career began in his teenage years within the Assemblies of God Church, where he discovered and nurtured his passion for gospel music. He rose to leadership early, heading an acapella group known as Levite Brothers at Assemblies of God Church, Akampa, under the mentorship of Rev. Christian Kalu.
After completing secondary school, work opportunities took him to Rivers State, where he continued his musical calling by leading another acapella group called Dynamic Brothers. His career later extended to Bayelsa State, where he served as Music Director at Assemblies of God Church in Ekeremor and Sagbama.

Dhon Richie also played a key role in leading the music department at Assemblies of God Church, Rumuola River, Ikwere District, under Rev. Charles Alison (of blessed memory) in Rivers State. In 2019, he joined the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he headed the music ministry at Battle Axe Parish, further strengthening his impact in gospel music leadership.
Professional Music Career and Discography
In 2024, Dhon Richie officially launched his music career with an EP titled “One Chance”, featuring IMB. This marked a major milestone in his gospel music journey. By God’s grace, he later released a full-length album titled “Wonder God”, which has been well received by gospel music lovers.
